A Brief Overview

The Legal Counsel, Real Estate provides advanced level timely, high-quality legal advice and assistance to Global Legal Services (β€œGLS”) attorneys and business clients with emphasis on commercial mortgage lending and mortgage loan servicing issues and transactions. This position documents, negotiates and closes commercial mortgage loans and prepares and negotiates real estate contracts, leases and other related documents and agreements.Β  The Legal Counsel proactively serves clients and others with responsive and service-oriented approach.Β 

This position enjoys a local Chesterfield MO Hybrid work schedule.

What you will do

  • Assist Managing Counsel, Real Estate and other members of Global Legal Services and Real Estate Investments Departments by providing legal advice and services in connection with commercial mortgage lending, loan servicing matters such as defaults and foreclosures, leasing and other real estate matters.

  • Prepare, review and negotiate commercial mortgage lending documents, leases and related real estate agreements and documents in connection with commercial mortgages, real estate owned investments, corporate office leasing and other real estate transactions.

  • Provide advanced level of timely, high-quality legal advice and support while proactively serving clients implementing strong work ethic, appropriately escalating matters as necessary.

  • Research and analyze legal issues and questions using appropriate resources.

  • Apply advanced knowledge and experience to identify legal issues and provide advice on alternatives to mitigate risk while achieving client goals and objectives.

  • Collaborate and communicate with stakeholders to perform advanced assignments and projects involving moderate level of complexity.

Required Qualifications

  • Law degree from a United States accredited law school.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university.

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. State.

  • 2 to 5 years experience as an attorney in a law firm or in a corporate legal function.

  • Business, finance or accounting degree or experience; working knowledge of concepts, terminology and practices.Β 

  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. real estate law

  • Advanced knowledge of legal and contract terminology and methods; general business and financial knowledge.

  • Advanced ability to identify and interpret business and contract issues.

  • Advanced client counseling skills in translating business needs and problems into viable and accepted solutions

  • Excellent client service and interpersonal skills, with continued focus and dedication to high level of client service

  • Excellent skills with respect to drafting, review, proofreading, negotiation, persuasion, Β and verbal and written communications.Β  Demonstrated ability to clearly present appropriate business terminology and concepts

  • Highly organized and results oriented with strong attention to detail

  • Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines

  • Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; ability to effectively balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables

Compensation Range:

$123,500.00 - $184,050.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
