Position Summary: 

As the General Counsel for Cinterra you will set the long-term legal strategic vision, priorities, and ensure that the company and its employees stay in compliance with applicable laws and regulations and perform the following functions: 

  • Perform Subcontract redlining and reviews for Cinterra’s pipeline of Projects and Customers 
  • Negotiate the terms of Subcontracts with both Contract Managers and opposing Counsel 
  • Review and manage Cinterra legal documents including standard Master Services Agreements 
  • Advise and liaise with the Board of Directors and Executive Team on strategic initiatives and handle sensitive and important legal matters 
  • Lead the team in gathering and organizing data in all matters of a legal nature including Liens and any potential legal action that may occur throughout the course of the business 
  • Lead the interface with legal counsel retained for actions occurring in a state which General Counsel is not licensed 
  • Provide consultation to the Cinterra team on all legal matters including Change Orders, contract award reviews, and contract specifications 
  • Ensure conformance with applicable regulations and consistency within the procurement process of other contract specialists on the team 
  • Oversee IP and litigation dockets 
  • Oversee M&A and strategic corporate initiatives 
  • Advise the HR team on Federal, Multi-State, and International Employment Laws 
  • Advise management and staff on legal issues related to programmatic initiatives 
  • Oversee the Data Privacy and Security Program, including training, and compliance 
  • Support the development of training materials, guidance documents, and relevant employee and contractor training 
  • Manage the organization’s insurance portfolio and intellectual property portfolio 
  • Establish and manage relationships with outside Counsel 
  • Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action 
  • Anticipate issues and strategically estimate potential risks, and identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate the estimated risks 

Compensation 

Pay will be based on knowledge, skills, and experience. Cinterra is a total compensation company that provides potential for sign-on payments, and other forms of potential compensation as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. 

Requirements

Job Requirements & Qualifications:  

  • This position is based in Hope Mills, North Carolina. Telecommuting may be approved for this position with the appropriately experienced candidate. 
  • Up to twenty (20) percent travel will be required for this position 

Basic Qualifications 

  • At least five (5) years of legal experience (required) 
  • A Juris Doctorate degree and membership in (at least) one state bar or the equivalent (required) 
  • At least one (1) year of working experience in the Energy Sector (required) 
  • A mix of experience working in a corporate law firm and in-house counsel work (preferred) 
  • At least three (3) years of experience working in the Utility Scale Solar PV Sector (preferred) 

Physical Requirements: 

  • May be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard, and telephone, along with other general office equipment. 
  • Close vision abilities required due to computer work. 
  • Light to moderate lifting/carrying of 25 lbs. may be required. 
  • Reaching overhead or below. 
  • Work environment may include being able to tolerate moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phones, printers, light traffic) 
  • Ability to work in a confined area. 
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
