Job Description
This role is based at our Corporate Office in Menomonee Falls, WI. Youโll work onsite from Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays.
About the Role
In this role you will handle various legal matters to foster company operations while minimizing company risk and ensuring compliance with laws, rules, regulations and contractual arrangements.
What Youโll Do
Manage various legal matters supporting the company's operations involving various legal disciplines with an emphasis on strategic contracting
Negotiate contracts involving all aspects of corporate day-to-day operations and transactions
Develop and update form contracts and documents fostering efficient negotiations that produce the best possible results for Kohlโs
Conduct legal research and provide strategic legal advice concerning a broad range of questions and circumstances pertaining to company matters
Counsel Kohlโs internal stakeholders on various legal and strategic matters, including advising on legal consequences of past and future courses of actionย
Develop strategic policies, processes and educational materials to minimize company legal exposure and educate and train senior management on legal risks and ramifications
Maintain strategic relationships with business partners and contribute to cross-functional efforts
Monitor new and developing legislation and regulatory requirements and assist in keeping Kohlโs compliant as needed

What Skills You Have
1-3 years of experience in private practice and/or an in-house legal departmentย
Superior analytical ability, negotiation and writing skillsย
Ability to synthesize complex legal analysis into practicable, actionable and concise advice
Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to pivot quickly and balance a complicated and constantly evolving workloadย
Preferred
Broad-based knowledge of various legal issues involving corporate transactions, information technology, merchandising, finance, HR, credit, marketing, product development, product safety, logistics, facilities and eCommerce
Self-starter willing to address emerging issues as they come
Retail experience
Special Requirements
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
Member of the state bar or licensed by the state bar
