Our Legal Division is expanding to enhance solutions for millions of clients and their families. We are looking for an experienced attorney to provide legal advice and support to leaders across the Firm related to our investment advisory platform and programs particularly in our expanding high net worth and alternatives offerings. The work is dynamic and requires the ability to look beyond the specific legal questions to understand the goals of the business and aid in getting to the best solution. The key responsibilities of the Associate General Counsel III, Alternatives Investment Advisory Attorney are to:- Act as a key advisor to our high net worth and alternatives business teams
- Provide strategic thought and legal leadership to support and advise the Firm and its affiliates on a wide range of matters pertaining to the development of investment advisory programs, including alternative investments and strategies
- Develop and implement solutions to eliminate, manage and mitigate risk to the Firm
- Analyze and resolve complex legal matters and recommend changes to organizational policies and procedures
- Apply sound judgment, decision making, and conflict resolution skills and successfully partner with associates across the Firm and Legal Division to deliver results and move important work through the organization
- Employ excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and interpersonal skills to convey complex issues to legal and non-legal professionals at all levels, including senior leaders, to support the successful execution of investment advisory initiatives at the Firm
- Understand and apply the requirements of Form ADV (Part I, II and III) for maintaining the Firm's Form ADV, including the annual updating process and interim updates as necessary
- Interact with outside counsel to identify, evaluate, and resolve complex or unique legal questions and issues
What you'll need: - Juris Doctorate and licensed to practice law in the State of Missouri or other state
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive professional responsibility and experience in relevant practice areas
- Experience working at a regulatory agency, in private practice or in-house representing brokerβdealers and registered investment advisers with a significant alternative investments business
- Experience with alternative investments (including but not limited to private equity and credit funds, structured products, interval and tender offer funds, commodity funds)
- Familiarity with alternatives advisory programs and applicable federal laws and regulations that govern such programs, the contractual agreements that govern such programs, and disclosures that are provided to retail clients
- Experience working with federal and state regulators and self-regulatory organizations preferred
- Exceptional legal knowledge, judgment, work ethic and integrity, and a demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Technological aptitude and ability to learn new technologies
